This Hack Saved My Sanity!

I recently stumbled upon a game-changing hack that saved me from the chaos of my busy life. The title might sound a bit clickbaity, but trust me, it’s 100% true.

And I know that I am not alone in this. So, If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed like I did, you’ll want to hear this.

But before I spill the beans, I want to clarify that this is not a 1 time quick fix. It required hard work as I had to draw on my skills to make it happen.

Stay with me, and I promise you’ll find what I’m about to share valuable.

Life here in the Owens household is B-U-S-Y, and I don’t say that lightly. I’m a productivity coach, and that means I help people be:

  1. More productive!
  2. Less stressed!
  3. Create effective systems!
  4. And succeed by embracing their leadership role!

So, you’d think I’d have it all figured out for myself, right? Wrong. Last Sunday, I hit a breaking point as I found myself struggling to keep up with my own life.🤯

I was facing the weekly family schedule, a 5-hour volunteering commitment for my daughter’s soccer team, household chores, and a daunting week ahead professionally. Panic was setting in.

Questions swirled in my head. How was I going to find time to grocery shop, cook dinner, get everyone to their activities, and plan for the work week ahead of me?

It all seemed so impossible to achieve in one evening, and I found myself feeling bad about the absence of the help we once had after school.

How I meal-prepped my way to a calmer life and business

I didn’t have time to wallow in self-pity. After all, I still had a mile-long-to-do-list and needed to tick them all off before the night was over.

Then I had an idea…

I would cook all 5 dinners for the week in the time between when I got home from volunteering and bedtime. I had bulk meal prepped before, but before traveling to make sure my family didn’t starve while I was away.

This time, though, I would be cooking for a family of four and needed to come up with 5 good meals that would refrigerate well, travel well, and that I had the ingredients for.

A quick trip to the store solved that problem. And in just a few hours, I cooked five main courses, three side dishes, and breakfast bread. I even managed to wash the dishes!

The unexpected benefits it came with

This hack had a few unexpected benefits. Not only did it ensure that we had food for the new week, but it also saved me time. I won’t have to cook dinner every night, and I didn’t have to do dishes every day.

My kitchen stayed cleaner, and we were all eating better. We weren’t just grabbing whatever we could find in between activities and eating late at night because there was food in the fridge.

I’m also calmer now that I know that our meals are taken care of for the week. And I can focus on more important tasks like running my business.

Similarities to life and business planning

I shared this hack with a friend, and it hit me—it’s kinda like what we do in our 3-days intensive program, Momentum Live: The CEO Experience.

  1. We make a plan for your business, just like I made a menu for the week.
  2. We do the work to flesh out the plan, making it ready for action, like cooking the meals.
  3. We ‘clean up’ the plan and ensure everything is in its place, much like packaging the meals and washing the dishes.
  4. Finally, we help you address any obstacles in your way and set up resources for plan implementation, just like having a meal ready to go when needed.

The benefits of planning ahead are similar in both cases. You save time, you’re in a calmer head-space, and you’re able to achieve your goals more easily.

Where could you use a hack like this in your life and business?

There’s still time to register for Momentum Live which runs from October 3-5, 2023.
