Embrace the Uncomfortable: How Doing Hard Stuff Can Unlock New Levels of Growth and Success

A wise woman once said… Sorry, scrap that. There’s no wise woman. There’s only me 😆, and I’m really just here to a few simple things you can do to gain MOMENTUM and move your life forward. Trust me, these hacks are easy to implement and can change your life like they did mine.

You remember how, as kids, it was constantly hammered in our ears, that life isn’t always a smooth ride and that achieving true growth often demands stepping out of one’s comfort zone and embracing the uncomfortable? Well, it’s TRUE. It sucks quite all right, but it’s true. And it’s why no one can ever truly actualize their goals by being complacent or going the easy route.

Think about it – if everything was handed down to you without any effort on your part, would you truly value it? I’m guessing your answer is “no”. Real satisfaction comes from doing the “hard” stuff – pushing beyond what you thought was possible, and breaking free from the limitations that once held you back.

Growth is an exhilarating (and often painful) adventure, yet the rewards are oddly satisfying when you put in efforttake risks, and show real commitment. But before we take this further, it’s important to point out that everyone’s “hard” is unique, and so, what might be terrifying for one person could be a breeze for another.

Here’s a little story to explain what I mean…

Some time ago, I turned down a hypothetical $1 million offer from Dylan Vasbinder, for a dare to take cold showers every morning for a whole year! I know… I know, I was being a coward. Before you judge me though, you should understand that while a cold shower might be normal for some people, it was terrifyingly difficult for me as I was not used to it. But guess how I responded when he asked me a follow-up question that read, “What if every time you took a cold shower, a person was freed from slavery or saved from poverty?

Immediately, my perspective changed, and the dare suddenly took on a noble meaning for me, because it was a chance to make a positive impact in someone else’s life.

Another really hard thing I got around to mastering over the years, is going for a run each day, (whether I feel like it or not). But I’ve learned to make it a routine regardless because I know that this consistent practice helps me build discipline and resilience, and it’s been an integral part of my personal growth journey ever since.

Like I mentioned earlier…

We all have our unique “hard” stuff. What you consider a challenge might not faze me, and vice versa. But the beautiful thing is that when you face things that feel difficult consistently, you build the strength to handle uncomfortable situations expertly.

Embracing discomfort is not just about facing challenges head-on, but also about recognizing that your personal growth is a direct product of consistently testing uncharted territories. When you choose to embark on the path less traveled, you open yourself up to incredible transformations.

What personal challenge both terrifies and excites you?
